These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of meta-analysis.io (the "Service"), operated by EVIDENCIA Labs ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Description of the Service
meta-analysis.io is a web-based application for conducting meta-analyses, systematic reviews, and related statistical analyses. Features include data entry, effect-size computation, heterogeneity and sensitivity analyses, diagnostic test accuracy and network meta-analysis, visualizations, and export of results.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your account credentials secure, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@meta-analysis.io of any unauthorized use.
3. Your content
You retain all rights to the data, documents, and analyses you create or upload to the Service ("Your Content"). By using the Service you grant us a limited license to host, process, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not claim ownership of Your Content, do not share it with third parties except as required to operate the Service, and do not use it to train machine-learning models.
You are solely responsible for ensuring that you have the right to upload and process Your Content, including any patient-level data, copyrighted material, or data subject to privacy or confidentiality obligations. The Service is not intended for storing Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA or equivalent regulated data unless a separate written agreement is in place with us.
4. Permitted use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any regulation.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code or underlying algorithms of the Service, except as expressly permitted by law.
- Use the Service to build a competing product, resell access, or share an account across multiple users.
- Upload or transmit malicious code, or attempt to disrupt or compromise the Service, other users' accounts, or our infrastructure.
- Represent that results generated by the Service are endorsed, certified, or verified by us beyond what is stated on the Service.
5. Subscriptions and billing
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle and no refund is issued for the unused portion unless required by law. We may change pricing or plan features with at least 30 days' notice; continued use after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
6. Scientific disclaimer
The Service implements established statistical methods and visualizations for use by researchers. Results produced by the Service are intended as an aid to informed scientific judgment, not as a substitute for it. You are responsible for selecting appropriate methods, verifying inputs and outputs, and interpreting results in the context of your study question. The Service is not a medical device and is not intended for diagnosis, treatment, or any clinical decision-making involving individual patients.
7. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, interface, plots, documentation, and the Methods reference page, is owned by EVIDENCIA Labs and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for your own research. No other rights are granted.
8. Warranty disclaimer
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT RESULTS WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SUITABLE FOR A SPECIFIC RESEARCH CONTEXT.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, EVIDENCIA LABS AND ITS AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR DIRECT DAMAGES SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS PAID BY YOU TO US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
10. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your access ends and we will delete Your Content consistent with our Privacy Policy and retention obligations.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or via the Service at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona.
